In many circles when it comes to testosterone use Sustanon-250 is the gold standard. For many performance enhancing athletes it is Sustanon-250 or nothing else when it comes time to pick a testosterone form and while that’s fine and dandy, it will get the job done; those who have created such hype around the compound may find themselves a little disappointed as they read on. The bottom line is simple; testosterone is testosterone regardless of the form. The hormone itself does not change at all just because a particular ester is attached and this applies to ester mixtures as well. The mode of action of the testosterone hormone is always the same in-terms of both benefits and side-effects; what can be gained and achieved from single ester forms such as Testosterone-Enanthate, Testosterone-Cypionate or mixtures such as Omnadren or Testoviron is identical in every way to Sustanon-250.
The difference in each testosterone form lies within the attached ester and while the hormone itself remains the same the half-life associated with the ester is what gives us a difference. The shorter the ester the shorter the half-life, meaning the steroid will become active faster but its total active duration will be much shorter than a longer ester. There are many various ester forms, some are very short, some very long and others fall somewhere in the middle. What if anything makes Sustanon-250 a little special is it is a mixture of four varying esters all of a unique size and all with their own half-life.
The total half-life of Sustanon-250 is approximately 15 days; however, each testosterone in the mixture carries with it its own unique half-life. For example, Testosterone-Propionate is part of the mixture and possesses a half-life of a little more than three days, while the Decanoate ester attached carries a 15 day half-life. By mixing together four forms of testosterone each with its own ester we create a compound that slowly and steadily releases testosterone for an extended period of time but for the performance enhancer this is of little value. For the performance enhancer who uses Sustanon-250, injections every other day will always prove to be the most efficient method because if we are to keep our testosterone levels not only stable but at peak levels we must inject more frequently than the intended design this steroid calls for.
Sustanon-250 was developed not as a performance enhancer but for the purposes of hormone replacement therapy. The idea was to create a testosterone mixture that would only need to be administered once per month to allow patients to cut back on injections. Because the mixture is based off of varying time release principles this idea is very sound. To understand this a little more clearly we only need to look at the total composition of Sustanon-250 and the half-lives associated with each form in the mixture. The ester is listed first, the amount per milliliter second and the half-life last:
Testosterone-Propionate – 30mg 3 days
Testosterone-Phenylpropionate – 60mg 4.5 days
Testosterone-Isocaproate - 60mg 9 days
Testosterone-Decanoate -100mg 15 days
This total composition gives us 250mg of testosterone per milliliter and provides a steady dose of testosterone for a far extended period of time.
While Sustanon-250 may indeed prove to be the most popular testosterone mixture it does not stand alone. Other mixtures such as Omnadren and Testoviron are very commonplace with Omnadren being almost identical to Sustanon-250 in every way. While Testoviron is a mixture of two testosterone forms, Testosterone-Enanthate and Testosterone-Propionate, Omnadren is a mixture of four testosterones in the same dosing levels as Sustanon-250. The only difference between Omnadren and Sustanon-250 is in the longest ester; Omnadren’s longest ester is Caproate, a shorter ester than Decanoate which is the longest ester in Sustanon-250. However, regardless of the testosterone mixture you decide to use the same results can be achieved with all. In the end, as is with many varying forms of anabolic steroids it all boils down to trial and error. You may use one form and love it only to find another form you enjoy a little more, time will tell but as long as you understand testosterone you’ll be good to go no matter which path you choose.
